Huckleberry Hound

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

So this little guy I got from King’s Island theme park in Houston when I was..oh, about 10-12. We lived in Indiana at the time and came down to visit the relatives in Texas and went to King’s island one day.

The whole theme park was Hanna Barbara related which was awesome because I was a huge HB fan, having watched their cartoons since I was a kid. Sadly the park is no longer there, hasn’t been for a long time. It may have become a Six Flags…

This figure is about 2.5″ high. I used to play with him all the time. Sometimes he got to drive the GiJoe jeep.

I have never seen another one before. If anyone else has one send me a pic and I’ll post it here.

I don’t know if King’s Island had any other figures of this type for sale but of different characters. I would love to know what else they had to offer at the time.

Which then leads to the above. I decided to make my own figures when I was in Middle School.  I made a bunch of clay characters. But more on that later.

The first Huck on the left I made out of clay, but then i discovered that you could press the original toy into playdoh and fill the recess with hot glue and presto- instant figure!  Then I made two more in costumes.

The two little guys on the bottom are my version of Huck’s nephew, I called him Wilbur.
