Once again Tubi has brought me some goodness I never even knew existed. This time it is a TV show called Space Sheriff Gavan. I don’t know anything about Japanese television but my first impression is this show is the grandfather of the Power Rangers. There is a guy who instantly changes into a powerful suit, a super villian that is trying to take over the earth that sends a different monster to fight Gavan each episode (so far anyways). He has a space ship that also transforms into a dragon and a female co-worker/love interest that can change into a parakeet.
Tubi says it came out in 1983 and I have to say I am quite impressed with the camera angles and the effects. They put a lot of work into this show. The editing and filming is hyper-kinetic and they use a ton of pyrotechnics.
After watching the first episode on a lark, I have decided to finish the series and to sketch all the characters and monsters!
