I found a new TV show to watch!
It’s called Roomies, came out in 1987 and has only 8 episodes. It stars Corey Haim and Burt Young (Paulie from the Rocky movies) and they are both new college students rooming together in the dorm. Corey plays Matthew Wiggins, a genius 14 year old and Burt plays Nick Chase, a former Marine. So far I have watched the first two episodes and even though its depiction of college is pretty goofy and the acting isn’t the best, it’s fun and cute and the interactions between Burt and Corey are quite sweet.
Oh, and Matthew Wiggins loves fish.
I really like discovering something new and this show has been a nice treat. I have never heard of it and I only know Burt Young from the RocKy movies. This viewing has been a very lovely experience, it also reminded me of growing up when we watched lots of sitcoms just like this; fun, light and charming.

I finally got to watch a movie that has been on my radar for quite a while; Razorback.
It’s an Australian horror movie from the early 80’s about a giant wild boar that kills people. There really isn’t much gore or a very large cast of characters but it’s pretty fun and I love the Australian outback.
What I like best about the film is it’s wonderful atmospheric cinematography. Some of the shots are really stunning.
It’s not a very scary, gory or gross movie but it is fun!

Oh boy, do I have a good movie recommendaton for you and surprisingly it’s not on Tubi.
The movie is called The Fall.
And it is absolutely wonderful!
Even a week after watching it I still think about it. The basic plot revolves around a 1920’s era movie stunt man who gets injured on the job and is recuperating at a hospital where he befriends a young girl, who is also on the mend. They become friends and he kills time by telling her a sweeping, epic story that often times mimics his own life.
It’s a lot more layered an nuanced than that but that’s a real simple synopsis.
My favorite part is the cinematography and the on-location shooting: this movie is beautiful to look at. The colors and designs are simply fantastic.
And the little girl is so adorable.
Do yourself a huge favor, track this movie down and watch it, you will not be disappointed.

Again, Tubi has given me a gift.
This time the movie is Ice Station Zebra, a fun cold war romp involving the soviets, a submarine crew and a couple of spies.
This movie is pretty fun and the submarine cinematography is really good, especially considering its over 50 years old.
Rock Hudson plays the submarine commander and he does a great job and is entertaining to watch. Patrick McGoohan plays a British spy named Jones and he makes it easy to both like and dislike him. The film has some interesting twists and turns and if you like older adventure/spy/thrillers then this will be perfect for you.
