This past June we went to Astoria, OR for vacation. Our second time there and I love it more and more each time.
This time I managed to do a little sketching while we were there.
I would get up early while the rest of the family was still sleeping and take a walk around the hotel, down to the docks and through the neighborhoods; and stop and do a quick sketch/painting. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip.
As you can see the paintings are fairly small and each took 10-20 minutes to complete.
One neat thing; when I was painting the above ship, a pair of bald eagles landed on light posts on the dock I was on. I took a picture of the eagle in front but didn’t even realize there was a second one in the photo until I got home and went through my pictures!
